Local Construction Forums
The Centre recognises the importance of and liaises with Local Construction Forums which operate throughout Scotland to meet the sector needs of all parts of the industry in local areas. Memberships range across construction from professional practices to large and small construction companies to public sector and educational organisations.
There is no standard format for a forum and each group responds to the needs of their respective local construction communities.

Ayrshire Construction Alliance (ACF) | The Ayrshire Construction Alliance was formed in 2007. Members are making contact on an electronic basis, with no meetings currently planned. Building and Construction Industry Forum (BCIF) - South Scotland | Launched in 2003, the Building and Construction Industry Forum (BCIF) supports businesses of all size, allowing them the opportunity to benefit from the increased investment in the regeneration of the Scottish Borders. Centre for the Built Environment (CBE) - Glasgow | The Centre for the Built Environment (CBE) operates as the Local Construction Forum for the West of Scotland. A major aim of the centre is to increase the competitiveness of small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) through their engagement with the science base and by encouraging productive knowledge transfer links between business and the science base. It also has an objective to transfer knowledge between academia and small and medium size enterprises operating in the construction industry in Scotland. Construction Industry Development Forum (CIDF) - Aberdeen | The Construction Industry Development Forum (Aberdeen) was established in 2003 by Aberdeen City Council's Economic Development Department. This forum has representation from a number of development agencies and industry bodies including Construction Skills, Scottish Building Apprenticeship Training Council, Federation of Master Builders, Federation of Small Businesses, Scottish Enterprise, Jobcentre plus, local training providers and representation from a number of larger construction companies operating in the region. | Heather Farquhar Postal Address: |
East and Central Scotland Constructing Excellence Club (EBPC) - Edinburgh | The Edinburgh best practice club has been running for four years, and meets in Edinburgh on a monthly basis from November to April. Fife Construction Forum | The Fife Construction Forum was established to promote the construction industry in Fife. It provides links between contractors, clients and support agencies and aims to ensure that local companies benefit from the opportunities within Fife. Forth Construction (FC) | Forth Construction was set up with Scottish Enterprise funding in 2007 and based within Clackmannanshire Council. The organisation now has a membership exceeding 300, and engages with major clients of the industry to ensure supply chain opportunities for local construction companies. Forth Construction work in close partnership with a number of organisations and agencies. The main aim being to offer as comprehensive a support system as possible for its members. Inverclyde Construction Forum | Inverclyde Construction Forum was formed in September 2008 and membership has grown to over 100 local Inverclyde based companies in membership. A series of breakfast meetings have been held to provide guidance to construction organisation and networking opportunities. The Forum is managed by Riverside Inverclyde. Riverside Inverclyde is a £400 million public/private sector initiative that is regenerating over four and a half miles of scenic waterfront from Port Glasgow to Greenock.
