This course is aimed at those either new to the development control and planning process or those who need an update on Environmental Impact Assessment(s), (EIAs) which is a fundamental part of the planning process for major schemes.
The course will provide a general understanding of this procedure in the context of the planning process - from feasibility though planning to operation.
Aims and Objectives:
To enable the delegate to:
- Understand the requirements of EIAs
- Determine the various chapters? and requirements
- Establish how to use data
- State the pros and cons of the EIA
- Appreciate when the process should or should not be used
- Understand the relevant parts of the planning process and how this fits into the engineer's role
- Develop ideas on how to overcome a Highway Engineering issue
- Establish how to judge and examine data presented during the exercises
On completion of this course the delegate will have a greater knowledge of the planning process, and the role played by EIAs as a fundamental requirement for major schemes.

Where possible Delegates should bring with them a copy of a scheme - either they are working on or is being or has been undertaken with-in their organisation.
